GOSSIP:
14th May,
*Colin Moss(85) raced Pete Ross's 'spare' car at Eastbourne and
will do so again at Aldershot. Colin apparently has a new car in the making. A
rolling chassis at
the moment
but an engine has been sourced
so hopefully it will be ready soon.
*What's Robert Sellar up to? The Guymer built car that was
raced by Jimmy Rispin(155) has been put up for sale. Rumour has it Robert has
another V8 stock car in his workshops that will be a hire car.
*Brad Moss(815)
is booked in for Aldershot and all being well Ian Moss(875)
will be making his 2008 debut.
12th May,
*Mr Excavator Challenge Series points have been updated -
thanks to Sam for the info.
*Thanks to Spedeworth for sending through the latest points chart.
*A final decision will be made at the weekend as to whether the site will
continue
-
an announcement will be put on the site Monday evening.
11th May,
*Seems there are quite a few people who would like to see the
site continue. No final decision has been made yet. Is anyone willing to
contribute on a regular basis if I were to continue with the site?
Also, is there anyone who goes to a particular track regularly who could email
info on the V8s when they appear at that track? email:
v8stockcars@googlemail.com
*Next up is Aldershot this coming Sunday at 1pm - Is this the
meeting everyone's gonna turn up at?
*Daryl Harris(32) will be back in the UK from Afghanistan, if
only for a short while but will be racing at Aldershot, as will Terry Harris(33)
& Dennis Harris(34).
*No pictures received from anyone so no Eastbourne pictures.
2nd May,
*Eastbourne, Mr Excavator Round 3 on Monday - 16 cars booked in
at present, could well be more.
*Yet another rumour: Colin Moss(85) has bought Kevin Turner's car. This could
well be the case as Colin, Ian & Brad are all booked in for Eastbourne.
29th April,
*Rumour: Pete Ross(547) has bought Roy Eaton's car.
*Rumour: Alan Gray(521) has bought Pete Ross's car.
*Good to see Steve Bateman making contact via the forum, also confirms that the
forum still works!
*Mr Excavator Challenge Series Round 3 (abandoned Ipswich meeting) has
now
become Round 5, to take place at Yarmouth on 27th July in place of the Norfolk
Masters. The two rounds before at
Eastbourne & Ipswich obviously change to rounds 3 &4.
17th April,
*Round three of the 'Mr Excavator' Challenge Series takes place
at Ipswich this coming Saturday.
*Driver list shows 19 cars booked in at present although it could possibly be
more.
*Seems as though Mark Guinchard(183) is racing the Pete Keenan(19) machine
again.
*Three drivers making a first appearance of the season at Ipswich are Sean
Driscoll(284), Graham Webster(54) & Kevin Turner(12).
*Robert Seller is making progress with his other car and says it should be out
soon!
*The Forum seems a total waste of time with very little being posted on it.
11th April,
*Paul Wainwright is progressing with his car, despite a
shipping nightmare with his engine. The car's painted and he should be out
sometime soon.
*'Big Nige' will be making his first appearance of the season at Ipswich.
*Other than the above, it's all very quiet, as is the forum.
3rd April,
*Has anyone got any news on the hire car(s)?
*Rumour: BriSCA F1s only had 20 cars at Sheffield!
Does anyone know the reason why as they'll no doubt have plenty at Coventry?
31st March,
*After the brilliant show put on by the V8s at
Bovingdon, the next
meeting is Ipswich on April 19th. Hopefully some more cars will make their first
2008
appearance.
Book in now if you haven't already done so.
*Rumour: The ex Ian Skinner(9) deejay car
will soon have a new
owner.
*Pete Ross(547) thought he had broken his wrist at Bovingdon -
glad to say it isn't broken but badly sprained.
Staying with Pete,
it is also rumoured that he has blown his engine.
Hopefully he and the car will be sorted soon.
*Mark Guinchard (183) is the son of Derek Guinchard (exF1,
259), not Peter
as previously stated.
28th March,
*Daryl Harris (32) will possibly be able to race at Aldershot.
He is apparently back in the UK for two weeks, at the time Aldershot is on,
after which he'll be returning to Afghanistan.
*Does anybody know what the situation is with Stu Blythe, Darren & John
Saunders, Roy Eaton, Maurice Sullivan, Titch Gardner, Barry Barnard, Paul
Wainwright, Tom Hardy, Mark Williams, Polly & Jim Reade & Terry Coke Jnr
with regards racing?
25th March,
*Ian Skinner (exV8, 9)
has been quick to quash the rumour he is after his old car.
*Could be a couple of cars changing hands shortly - tell you more when it
happens!
*Did you know? Harringay & Walthamstow meetings in 1967 totalled 18, 12 at
Harringay and 6 at Walthamstow. Harringay also run on both Good Friday & Easter
Saturday!
23rd March,
*Pete Ross (547) is the new London Champion.
*Mark Guinchard (183) was a non - starter in the first race. It didn't take him
long to get used to the car in the second, having been testing at Arena on
Saturday. Looks like he could be at Bovingdon next week as well.
*Malcolm Burton Jnr didn't show, for whatever reason.
*Peter Scott Jnr(99) has apparently bought the Bill Chance (117).
*Jimmy Rispin (exV8, 25) will be racing at Bovingdon in the ex Steve Ward (22)
car.
*Rumour: Ian Skinner (9) is trying to buy his old car back!
17th March,
*16 cars booked in for Wimbledon at the moment - where are the
others?
*Two new names amongst those 16, Mark Guinchard (183) & Malcolm Burton Jnr (217).
Mark is the son of Peter Guinchard (BriSCA, SCOTA, FISCA F1, 258) and was
until recently racing BriSCA F2.
16th March,
*A new points chart is out but it is exactly the same as Points
Chart No1! Takes into account meetings up to & including February 23rd,
effective 9th March. Don't see the point in having a new chart, considering the
V8s opening meeting was February 24th!
*This one's a bit confusing as well. As reported on this site, the Steve Ward
car was to be sold to Jimmy Rispin (ex V8, 25). It now turns out that Jimmy
Rispin didn't buy the car at all. Steve Ward did however sell his car, it's new
home is in the Oxford area. Jimmy Rispin, from Greenford,
could still be racing the Steve Ward car though!
*An ex BriSCA F1 driver could be racing V8s very soon.
*Barry Amas (633) should be back on track in a couple of months, in a new car.
14th March,
*Struggling for any news to update the site with. If you have
anything at all, email
v8stockcars@googlemail.com
5th March
*Wimbledon
in a little over two weeks - don't forget, book in early.
*The V8 forum doesn't seem to be generating much interest at present. If it
doesn't improve within the next 5/6 weeks it'll be deleted from the site.
*Has anybody got any news! There's loads of cars and drivers missing at present
- when they ready, when you out? Let me know,
v8stockcars@googlemail.comor put something on
the forum!
*I have heard from Daryl Harris(32), doing his bit in Afghanistan. He would
welcome some penpals. Anyone wanting to send letters or mags to him can do so
free of charge, if under 2kg(4.4lb). Please send to the following address:

27th February
*Despite the conditions, the V8s put on a decent show at the
opening meeting of 2008.
*Peter Scott(98) was driving the Pete Guymer(257) car - Peter Scott Jnr(99) was
driving the Bill Chance(117) car & Mr Excavator, Colin Moss(85) was driving the
Ian Moss(875) car.
*Simon Turner(324) was starting from the reds for the first time, in John
Turner's
old car.
*Peter Gray(125) won the grade award at Wimbledon.
*The hire car is nearing completion.
*Robert Sellar(ex16) saw the V8s for the first time in many a year - the bug
seems to have bitten
him big time
already
and he hopes to be out very soon.

*Work has started on the Aldershot track, it'll be a little
smaller than Wimbledon when completed.
*After hastily having put his car up for sale, Dennis Harris
(34) has reconsidered his decision to quit and has decided to continue racing.
4th February
*Just a quick reminder to anyone outside London - the
London Low Emission Zone was introduced today. If you enter London (within the
M25) with a non compliant vehicle
it'll cost you £200. Check the chart on the homepage and click
the link to Transport for London for more information.
*Dennis Harris(34) has decided to call it a day for reasons of
his own! His car is currently For Sale
1st February
*Another driver who will possibly be returning to the V8s
is Jimmy Rispin(ex25). If all goes well at the weekend he could well be
out at Wimbledon!
*Robert Sellar(16) is another driver
who should be back out this season, having returned to the UK from Australia.
He'll be spectating at the opening Wimbledon,
having not seen them for approximately 20 years! I think he's in for an eye
opener!
*Daryl Harris(32) will be missing for quite a few months - he has to go to
Afghanistan at short notice until mid June.
*Yet another ex driver from some time ago is contemplating a return to the track
in the hire car, as and when it becomes available. 22nd

'new' Aldershot track to be egg - shaped, it will not be when work on it is
completed.
10th December
