WHAT IS A V8 STOCK CAR?

the cars:
A V8 Stock Car is a 1000kg single seat race car that is
generally powered by a small block Chevrolet V8 engine.
The cars are built to a strict specification and run on 13"
wheels. They are a nice size to work on and are not
difficult to transport around. You can buy a competitive
car for approximately £3-4k, ready to race.
As in other motor sports, some spend a great deal on
their cars but there are superstar graded drivers whose
cars fall into the above price bracket. They are fairly
low cost to maintain with engines lasting for many
seasons without major rebuilds, although there is
always the possibility that you're the unlucky one,
as in all motorsport.

the racing:
Cars line up in graded order, with the quickest starting at
the rear of the grid. Grades are determined by way of a
points system that awards points to the first ten over the
line. Periodically, the points are totalled and drivers are
graded accordingly. Approximately 20 cars race at any one
time in a multiple lap challenge where the sole aim is to be
first across the line.  Drivers are able to forcibly remove other
cars from the racing line by skilful use of the front bumper.

where do they race?
Wimbledon Stadium, London, Ipswich Stadium, Suffolk
         Yarmouth Stadium, Norfolk, Eastbourne, Sussex
Aldershot, Hampshire

Spedeworth Motorsports are the promotors.

Meetings are held approximately every two weeks
throughout the season and there are approximately
20 meetings per season.

Conclusion:
If you're serious about racing and think you could
handle the power of a five litre Chevy, want to race
but don't want the racing to completely take over
your life, then the V8s are the answer.
A comparatively cheap formula to enter, cars are
comparatively cheap to maintain and they can be
towed about on a trailer.

They're more affordable than you think!
