Jaguar Mk2 Rebuild Page
About the car: it was bought back in 1974 for £135, road tax included!

Having been used
regularly for a few years, it blew an head
gasket, so was put in the garage. It's sat in the garage ever
since and even had a new headlining fitted when Rolls Royce
upholsterers were on strike many years ago. One came into
the garage looking for work and he was given the job. All the
interior woodwork was removed and re-done at the same time.
Ever since then, it has just sat there, Terry threatening to make
a start on it many times, year after year.
Then suddenly, out of the blue, he started it!

The body was completely stripped

As was the inside.

All the running gear has been removed as well.
Since the last update, work has
continued on the car.
The underneath has been totally stripped back to the
metal - every bit of underseal has been removed.

The car was found to be basically sound with
little rot
Terry remembered that many years ago
he broke a Jag up -
the parts have sat in the garage ever since. There were three
doors amongst the good bits saved and upon checking them
it was found that they were in far better condition than the
ones on the car. With a clean up, they'll be like new.
Work has continued on the Jag and
Terry has decided to work
from the front to the back. Some parts of the body have been
replaced already, although they are not fully completed yet, as
you can see from the pictures below.

The rivets look most unsightly at
the moment but the next step
is 'leading' - you're going to be amazed at how things turn out.
The last but one picture above shows the parts that have so far
been replaced.
The next update will have pictures showing you how different
parts have been transformed after leading.
This page will be
updated regularly as the project
progresses.
